Working as part of the senior leadership team, this post requires collaborative working with a range of operational, professional and corporate colleagues to ensure that the profession continues to deliver outstanding care and equipped to meet the new and emerging opportunities ahead of us. Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead the development of evidence based best practice, including innovative and evolving physiotherapy and health and exercise practice roles with the Trust and wider system. The post holder will support the Head of Profession for Physiotherapy to have oversight and assurance of the delivery of safe, effective and high quality physiotherapy and health and exercise practice across the Trust and work in partnership with operational colleagues to identify service priorities.
The post holder will meaningfully and effectively engage our physiotherapy and health and exercise workforce in order to promote job satisfaction and best patient experience and outcomes. They will ensure that out workforce is developed and empowered to contribute to service improvement and innovation across the system.

Job description
Job responsibilities
To provide professional leadership and governance for physiotherapy and health and exercise across Gloucestershire Heath and Care NHS Foundation Trust (GHC) and to work closely with other stakeholders within Gloucestershire to include, but not exclusively, the 3rd Sector, voluntary services and other areas outside of healthcare.
The post holder will report to the Head of Profession for Physiotherapy and will support them to deliver physiotherapy leadership, high standards of care, and quality outcomes. They will provide professional supervision to senior physiotherapists and health and exercise practitioners across the Trust, and provide clinical expertise in specified areas of clinical practice.
The post holder will support the Head of Profession for Physiotherapy to have oversight and assurance of the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality physiotherapy across the Trust. They will play a key role in implementing a strong culture of co-production and effective engagement with people who come into contact with our services. They will work closely with the Head of Profession to set expected service outcomes and will be required to interpret national and professional policies to establish the ways in which they could be applied within the Trust.
To work collegiately with operational managers to ensure the current workforce is appropriately trained and have the appropriate skill mix. Contribute to the development of future workforce planning in conjunction with, Head of profession, HR and operational managers and taking into account cost impact of strategic workforce planning of professional groups.
The post holder will support the implementation of evidence-based physiotherapy best practice including innovative and evolving roles within the Trust and wider system, in support of the Trusts and systems strategic direction and commitment to outstanding standards of quality governance. The post holder will meaningfully and effectively engage the physiotherapy workforce, making complex decisions and judgments about the best ways to support job satisfaction and best patient experience and outcomes. They will support the Head of Profession for Physiotherapy in ensuring that the workforce is developed and empowered to contribute to quality improvement and innovation within the Trust and across the system.
The post holder will deputise for the Head of Profession for Physiotherapy and will represent the Physiotherapy Service both locally and nationally, when required. This will include signing off expenses, agreeing A/L and reviewing sick leave.

- Registered Physiotherapist with the HCPC
- Relevant Masters qualification or equivalent work at this level
- Appropriate management development/ leadership qualification
Knowledge

- Knowledge of Physiotherapy across the range of mental health, physical community health, paediatric and learning disability physiotherapy practice areas gained through substantial experience as a senior Physiotherapist
- Working knowledge of the modernisation and development issues facing Health Care Services
Experience

- Experience working as a senior Physiotherapist in numerous settings and representing a broad range of care environments and client groups.
