Are you an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) passionate about working in an unscheduled care environment?

We are wishing to recruit a senior ACP for our standalone St Charles Urgent Care Centre which delivers high quality care for both adults and children over two years old.

You should have a high level of experience in assessing and managing injuries (including X-rays) and treating children presenting with minor injuries and illnesses.

We provide an educationally focused environment in which to grow and develop staffs' skills and knowledge, through work-based education, and training and support from our Leads.

Working in a clinical leadership role as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will ensure that our patients receive an exceptional level of care.

You will be part of the leadership team, which consists of ACP Clinical Leads, Clinical Operational Manager and Practice Educator.

The successful candidate will be an autonomous, experienced practitioner who enjoys teaching and supporting practitioners in the assessment and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries for both adults and children whilst running the service managing staffing recruitment, service developments, incidents for example.

Main duties of the job

The role is a clinical leadership role with the main duties of the job will include:
  • Ensure the services are delivering high quality evidence-based care to patients attending with injuries and undifferentiated health problems. The post holder will be expected to work autonomously as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner delivering care to our patients.
  • Utilising expert diagnostic skills and clinical reasoning to provide autonomous, unscheduled care for patients presenting with acute undifferentiated conditions (most commonly minor injuries and ailments although some patients attending may present with complex health needs and / or acute on chronic conditions).
  • The post holder will deliver care in collaboration with emergency services, other health care professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies.
  • To work in association with colleagues in defining standards of care and practice aimed at maintaining, developing, or improving quality.
  • To work with the senior staff in the operational management and the organisational development of the service.
  • Responsibility for day-to-day management of the service.
  • Take designated responsibility of clinical practice within the service.
  • Communicate highly complex and sensitive information to patients, carers, and other staff.
  • Deliver care within a culturally sensitive framework.
  • Implement, carry out disseminate and evaluate service audits

Essential

  • Registered Practitioner NMC/HCPC
  • Advanced qualification (Masters level) relevant to post or willing to do undertake the eportfolio route if suitable to do so

  • Extensive experience in urgent or same day care (primary care)
  • Clinical/managerial Leadership
  • Extensive theoretical & practical knowledge relating to assessment & treatment of minor injuries and illnesse
  • Proven experience of utilising expert diagnostic and clinical skills to provide autonomous, unscheduled medical care and management of patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions
  • Experience of team / service/ staff management including HR processes
  • Experience of assessing and treating children over the age of two


Desirable

  • Experience in Accident & Emergency or UTC

  • Specialist knowledge in clinical reasoning, history taking, physical examination, diagnostic skills and prescribing/treatment relevant to the service
  • Ability to lead, enthuse, motivate, and involve individuals and the clinical team and have them understand the organisations and your performance expectations
  • Ability to manage and deliver deadlines within resources.
  • Evidence of comprehensive range of clinical skills and expertise relevant to the role
  • Competent IT skills including use of Microsoft Office package, System One and email
  • Good working understanding of the changing NHS environment
  • Able to work autonomously, planning and prioritising own workload and that of others
