The Oral Health Improvement Service is a commissioned service within the Dental Division of Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The purpose of the Oral Health Improvement Team is to deliver evidence based, oral health interventions to reduce the inequalities in oral health, working across organisational boundaries within Birmingham ICS.
If you have experience of delivering oral health improvement programmes and enjoy working with communities to improve oral health outcomes, then joining this new team might be the job for you.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to work within a team to contribute to the planning of oral health improvement interventions, the delivery of workforce development training, supervised toothbrushing programmes, Mouth Care Matters programmes, management of targeted toothbrushing resources and other evidence based interventions and evaluation across Birmingham.

- General Dental Council registration.
- and Certificate of the Examining Board of Dental Nurses (or equivalent)
- Certificate in Oral Health Promotion. (or equivalent Diploma/ Business Technology and Education Council Level 4 professional qualification)
- or A Diploma or BSc in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy.
Desirable
- Award in education and Training (or equivalent Diploma / Business Technology and Education Council Level 3

- Relevant experience of planning and delivering oral health improvement programmes, training and events.
- Relevant experience of managing own workload and working to tight timescales.

- Knowledge of aetiology and prevention of dental diseases.
- Good understanding of health improvement principles and practices.
- Knowledge of the use of epidemiology and deprivation data to identify target groups.
- Understanding of the evidence base of health improvement.
- Excellent ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written skills.
- Knowledge of planning, managing and evaluating health improvement programmes.
- Understanding of planning and delivering multi disciplinary training.
