The post holder will be responsible for the management of the finance team reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. In addition, the postholder will manage the final accounts process, monthly monitoring returns and annual NHS financial planning.
The post holder will need to handle appropriately all routine enquiries from Trust staff and outside organisations and individuals.
The post holder will work closely with Operational Managers and the Finance department, including Procurement.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the finance team. It's function is to work closely with operational managers to set, monitor and manage team and service line budgets. The accountability of teams to maintain spend within planned levels, whilst delivering income targets, is critical to the ability of the Trust to attain its key short and long term strategic and business objectives.
Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the department maintains monthly budget monitoring and supports service and team leads to manage expenditure within planned levels.
In addition the post holder will support and oversee the training of finance and nonfinance staff so they are trained and equipped to deliver the necessary support and management of team level budgets.
