Within the children's services at Cambridge University Hospitals the Department of Paediatric General Surgery/Urology is dedicated to providing specialist, professional care to our patients and their families in a welcoming and committed atmosphere. We are seeking to recruit a specialist support nurse within the speciality of paediatric surgery/urology.
We are looking for a committed paediatric nurse who has excellent communication and clinical teaching skills, and who holds some leadership experience. As a person you will be motivated, organised and able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure. You will have already played a role within the care of paediatric general surgery and urology patients and have the desire to further enhance and develop your skills.
To the successful candidate we will commit to your continuing professional development which will be both supported and encouraged.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will work as an integral part of the team in order to provide a first class service. Working alongside the Clinical Nurse Specialists you will be responsible for assisting in the provision and coordination of an effective, comprehensive, integrated, service. You will be responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care programmes and undertaking specialist nursing procedures. Provision of specialist education and training for children, families and carers and other staff and students will be a principle role. You will liaise with all relevant professional groups and agencies within and outside the Trust to enhance the delivery of care to children, young people and families under the care of the paediatric surgery/urology team, providing guidance, support and advice.
