This is an exciting opportunity to join the MSNAP accredited multi-professional community memory team in Barnsley as a Clinical Psychologist at either B8a or B7/8a preceptorship. The team specialises in providing assessment and interventions to those who are experiencing memory difficulties associated with dementia.
The post-holder will be expected to provide neuropsychological assessment to support dementia diagnosis, post-diagnostic support and interventions, and psychologically informed guidance for family members and paid carers of people with dementia. This varied role gives opportunity for working across the whole span of dementia experiences including assessment, post-diagnostic support, and systemic interventions for behaviour that challenges. The post-holder will work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team and alongside the existing full time Clinical Psychologist in the team.

Main duties of the job
The Memory Service is based at Summer Lane in Wombwell with free parking and several bookable clinic rooms. The Service is MSNAP accredited and can offer flexible hours and hybrid working if desired.
There are opportunities for supervising and to offer placements to Trainee Clinical Psychologists and the service maintains close links with the Psychology Department at the University of Sheffield. The successful applicants will be joining a supportive network of older adult psychologists across the Trust who meet regularly for peer support, and to share good practice and resources.
This is a great opportunity either for a candidate with existing or transferable skills or someone looking to develop expertise around psychological support in dementia, systemic working, and neuropsychological assessment. The post-holder will be supported to achieve the required competencies of the preceptorship.

Job responsibilities
This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The postholder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as directed.

The post holder will provide specialist clinical psychology skills within a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will provide a high quality clinical service to the users of the service.
They will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention while working collaboratively with non-psychologist colleagues, professionals from other agencies and carers. They will be clinically responsible to a senior clinical psychologist. Clinical oversight of all work will be held by the clinical lead in the service.
The job plan will be delivered in the services the post is based.
The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team while observing Trust and National policies and procedures.
The post holder will provide support to Assistant Psychologists and Doctoral trainees. They will utilise research skills in audit, service development and research relevant to the post
