We are seeking to recruit a Senior Screening Technician who, alongside the current Screening Technician role, will be responsible for the day to day management of the Technician Team. This will involve operational management of the team, training, dealing with any issues, problems or concerns and staff supervision. Liaison with the administration team regarding rotas, clinic sites & annual leave requests will also be a fundamental part of the role.
Previous experience of management is desirable though successful candidates will be provided with further management training. However, a requirement of the position is that you must have at least two years experience in the Screening Technician role and accreditation must be up to date. Candidates must also be willing to undertake any educational or training courses to comply with Local and National programme requirements.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual with excellent organisational skills, the ability to manage and motivate a team, who can deal with the unexpected whilst maintaining a positive disposition. A commitment to the programme and its aims with ideas on how we can make improvements will also be welcomed.
Days and times will need to be flexible during the working day, Monday to Friday 08.30 - 16.30 to suit the needs of the service.

The primary purpose of this role is to undertake abdominal ultrasound scanning as part of the community AAA screening programme. The post holder will ensure abdominal ultrasound scanning is undertaken to a high standard and in accordance with national standard operating procedures.
The post holder will reassure men attending the community AAA screening and surveillance clinics and explain the screening test to them. The post holder will ensure that the men attending clinics are informed and aware of the implications of AAA screening.
The post holder will support the Programme Manager/Deputy Programme Manager and be responsible for the management of the Screening Technician Team. You will ensure a high standard of ultrasound scanning and professionalism is maintained throughout the team in accordance with national standard operating procedures.

- NVQ 3 in relevant subject
- Accredited AAA Screening Technician
- Good standard of general education (5 GCSEs or equivalent, incl Human Biology)

- Population Health Management or similar qualification/certificate

- Previous management and staff supervision experience (including sickness and annual leave monitoring) within a similar environment
