An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support the planning and costing function within the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

The post holder will provide a full range of financial accounting and financial management services for financial planning, costing and benchmarking statutory returns as well as developing Service Line Reporting within the Trust.

This role requires excellent administrative and organisational skills, proficiency in a range of IT applications, and a keen eye for detail.

The successful candidate will play a key role as part of the finance team enjoy working to shared deadlines within a supportive team environment and will be fully supported in the role and in developing their career.

Main duties of the job

With support from the Business Partner - Planning and Costing, the post holder will take a role in managing the Planning & Costing function. This will include,
  • Producing data for the Annual Financial Plan,
  • Supporting Costing and Pricing,
  • Supporting Service Line Reporting.
  • Assisting with the Corporate Benchmarking Project.

The Assistant Business Partner - Planning and Costing will work with a range of managers, including some outside the finance function. The role will involve the preparation and presentation of information to working groups and committees and ensuring that the data produced is accurate and timely. The role is supported by the Business Finance Assistant - Planning and Costing.

Against this backdrop, the duties and responsibilities of this position fall into three main categories:
  • Deputising - Supporting the Business Partner - Planning and Costing.
  • Leadership & Development - Managing the Finance Assistant - Planning and Costing, and developing staff as required in technical understanding.
  • Delivery - Supporting the Planning and Costing agenda within the Trust.

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential

  • Vocational Qualifications - part qualified CCAB or CIMA accountant (to Diploma level or above) with significant financial experience within a large complex organisation


Experience

Desirable

  • Experience of Costing, Benchmarking and Business Planning
  • Experience of working in an NHS finance function, ideally within a Trust


Skills/Competencies

Essential

  • Demonstrates computer literacy skills, in relation to relevant software systems and data bases
