An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Worcestershire Localities within the Neighbourhood Community Mental Health Teams (NMHT).

An exciting opportunity for either an experienced OT or someone wishing to develop their career. As enthusiastic OT you will lead practice development and will be supported within the team by both the clinical and leadership structure.

Contributing to the delivery of our services, facilitating group interventions and working with individuals on improving the functioning in their lives, as a key member of our MDT across the Primary Care Networks ensuring our patients receive expert care focused on recovery.

The post is for 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday, although we would consider applications for 22.5 hours a week over 3 days. We also allow flexibility for hybrid working if clinically possible.

Main duties of the job

You would be working as part of a well-established and supportive Occupational Therapy team. All our OTs complete specific and Specialist Occupational Therapy Roles as part of the MDT. The role involves:
  • Being part of the OT provision
  • Supervised and supported by OT's
  • Part of an MDT that values and respects OT
  • Able to use your initiative and creative skills
  • Developing knowledge and application of the Model of Human Occupation and other specialist assessmentsThe ability to communicate effectively
  • Working flexibly to provide the service delivery need across the county
  • Being an enthusiastic, motivated and innovative thinker to become part of the team
  • An ability to work autonomously to manage your own case load
  • An ability to problem solve and manage time effectively
  • Experience of working with this user group in community settings.
  • Attending weekly MDT meetings, participate in professionals meetings, signpost to adjunct services depending on patient need.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based / client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions these interventions will be underpinned by the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO). To commission services where required
  • Provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal.
  • Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of OT Services, within a designated area / team, holding responsibility for defined projects
  • Provide outcomes for the service and service users by using agreed tools/assessments underpinned by MOHO
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust OT Service
  • Regularly supervise OT students

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Specialist knowledge and application of occupational therapy assessments and interventions relevant to client group.
  • Knowledge / experience of audit procedures
  • Understanding of occupational therapy outcome measures
  • Detailed knowledge of mental health legislation and current practice
  • Detailed knowledge of the principles of clinical governance and its application


Desirable

  • Working knowledge and experience of the application of the Model of Human Occupation
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy models of practice


Additional Criteria

Essential

  • Able to meet the travel requirements of the post


Experience

Essential

  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development
  • Significant post registration experience including experience within mental health
  • Minimum 1 year within / related specialty
  • Extensive clinical experience including individual and group work


Desirable

  • Experience of a range of mental health settings


Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma / degree in OT
  • Practice Placement qualification within one year of appointment
  • Postgraduate training relevant to mental health
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer
