An exciting opportunity has risen for an experienced Skin cancer Specialist Nurse practitioner.
The role will be a full time position based at University hospital of North Durham with rotation to Sunderland Royal Hospital, Sedgefield Community Hospital and Darlington Memorial Hospital.
The successful candidate with provide guidance, support and treatment to both Dermatology and Plastics patients who have been diagnosed with Skin Cancer.
The specialist Nurse will support patients predominantly in an Outpatients setting but occasionally will include supporting in-patient areas.
Interview date will be confirmed and you will be required to deliver a 10 minute presentation on the role of a band 6 skin CNS nurse in the first 6 months.
Main duties of the job
Support and clinically assess Skin cancer patients
Provide specialist advice to a range of Health care professioanls via written, telephone and person-to-person contact
Liase with other nursing staff and members of the multidisciplinary team in order to achieve optimum levels of care in relation to specialised area of practice e.g. when discussing treatment options and sharing care with other specialities.
Excellent communication skills and working relationships
Proficient in using information systems for data entry and updating patient records
Dealing with complex cases and interpret clinical information
Excellent planning and organisational skills
Support training and educational needs
Act as a role model
Comply with Health and safety, infection control and other trust policies.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the skin cancer team. We are seeking to recruit a compassionate and caring Clinical Nurse Specialist to support our Skin Cancer team to work across County Durham and Darlington Foundation trust sites.
You will be a registered nurse with significant post registration experience and excellent organisational and communication skills. You ideally will hold a degree or able to provide evidence of study at degree level in Nursing and you should also hold a current mentorship qualification. Car driver is essential.
Knowledge of Dermatology/Plastic surgery and experience of delivering care within these specialities is desirable. You must be willing to undertake all necessary training for the role.
You will have the ability to work independently and also as part of the Skin Cancer team. Flexibility in working days is essential to ensure service levels are maintained.
You will link and work closely with the Dermatology and plastic surgery team to ensure a seamless referral process following established guidelines and protocols between Dermatology, Plastic surgery, Maxiliofacial specialty and Histopathology to ensure our patients are well supported through their pathway.
