We have an exciting opportunity to join Wigan Building Attachment and Bonds Support, a Parent-Infant Mental Health Service located within Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust. Our service works with infants and their parents/carers from pregnancy up to 3 years of age. We are a small supportive multi-disciplinary team who are committed to providing high quality care to infants and their families in Wigan.

The advertised post is a recruit to train fixed term 12-month role involving 2 days per week on the Postgraduate certificate in Psychological Therapies with Children and Young People: Working with 0-2s Pathway. The course will involve teaching and supervision in PIMH assessment, formulation and Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) at the Psychological Therapies Training Centre at Prestwich Hospital. Your remaining time be based within the service providing a clinical service to families including offering VIG.

We are seeking to recruit a Parent Infant Mental Health Practitioner who is passionate about early intervention and parent/carer-infant relationships. We welcome applications from Social Workers, Nurses, Midwives, Health Visitors, Occupational Therapist's and Speech and Language Therapists.

Main duties of the job

• To manage a caseload of families with complex mental health and social care needs.
• Offer specialist assessments, facilitate drop in's, co-deliver groups, triage referrals and offer parent & professional consultations
• Ensure that interventions are planned in an integrated and co-ordinated manner particularly where dependent on other external agencies identified through supervision or complex case discussion.
• To provide reports and communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients.
• Following consultation be responsible for developing care packages including assessing, planning, intervention and evaluation. Ensuring active involvement of parents and infants
• Use evidence based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions
• Attend complex case discussions
• Take part in clinical & managerial supervision

Knowledge

Essential

• Educated to diploma/degree level and registered with an appropriate professional body (ie Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Health Visitor, psychotherapy, psychology) Training to level 3 in Safeguarding children and young people: roles and competencies for Health Care staff or willingness to undertake training.

• Post graduate qualification relevant to specialism Educational qualification
