The role is based within the paediatric audiology team at Children's Hearing Centre (CHC). The team consists of assistant audiologists, paediatric audiologists, and clinical scientists. We provide diagnosis, treatment planning and hearing aid fitting for babies and children of all ages. There is close liaison with the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme, Paediatric ENT, Sensory Support Service and the Hearing Implant Programme.

The post holder will be based at St Michael's Hospital, Bristol.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Excellence: Deliver expert audiological assessments and interventions to patients, with a focus on maintaining clinical excellence. Stay updated on the latest advancements in audiology to ensure theapplication of evidence-based practices.

Patient-centred Care: Provide compassionate and patient-centred care, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with children and their families.

Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the audiology team, supporting a positive team culture. Provide guidance to less experienced staff and contribute to the professional development of the team.

Quality Assurance: Contribute to the maintenance of high-quality audiological services by adhering to standards and participating in quality improvement initiatives. Engage in audits and implement improvements based on best practices.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Significant post degree experience in any area of Audiology with a specialist interest in paediatric audiology


Desirable

  • Highly specialised knowledge of paediatric audiology acquired through a combination of in-depth experience and post-graduate/post-registration training such as that obtained through a master's degree/doctorate, equivalent experience/qualification, significant formal training or research in paediatric audiology
  • Experience undertaking clinical audit and/or research


Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal and communication
  • Excellent organisational skills


Aptitudes

Essential

  • The post holder should be an autonomous, self-directed practitioner who is able to complete the duties and responsibilities outlined in this job description without direct supervision
  • Able to work well under pressure and prioritise workload. Able to react to issues that crop up at short notice efficiently and calmly, using own initiative and judgment as necessary
  • Exhibit good judgement and excellent decision making
  • The post holder should be able to communicate complex information in a sensitive, empathic, and professional manner


Qualifications and Training

  • BSc/MSc in Audiology or equivalent qualification
  • Registered with the HCPC or AHCS
