Do you have a desire to support the development of a new and innovative Mental Health Crisis Hub?

Are you passionate about providing a service to meet the needs of people, carers and their families ?

Are you committed to delivering quality driven services?

Do you value working positively, respectfully and collaboratively?

If so, we'd love you to join us!

I am looking to recruit a skilled and highly motivated practitioner to join us as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. You will work alongside the Band 7 Team Lead across our Urgent Care Hub, interacting with the rest of our multi-disciplinary team.

The Urgent Care Hub is a collaboration of our Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team and our team working in the brand-new unit, The Haven and is integral to our Urgent Care Pathway. These services ensure people presenting to acute mental health services receive a compassionate, person- centred assessment and timely care plan whether this occurs in The Haven or with CRHTT in the patient's home.

To protect the health and safety of our staff/workers, patients, and those attending our sites, we encourage our workforce to get fully vaccinated against COVID

Main duties of the job

You will be an integral part of both The CRHTT and The Haven by:
  • Providing strong clinical leadership
  • Contributing to service development and the maintenance of high clinical standards
  • Utilising extensive clinical experience and being guided by NICE recommendations.
  • Ensuring a culture of effective risk management is present in the team

As a role model to the team, you will provide expert clinical leadership and offer advice, support and guidance where required to the MDT. Our team will look to you for expertise in leading on Quality Improvement Projects and to be involved in providing regular clinical supervision and implementing and delivering education and training for your team.

You will be instrumental in developing and establishing systems and protocols, and wider service developments, to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care to those presenting in mental health crisis.

This role is all about driving positive change and sharing your specialist experience with others.

About us

We provide mental health and learning disability care for children, young people and adults across Sussex and for children and young people in Hampshire.

Working in Sussex:
  • Travel easily between coast and countryside, with a blend of picturesque villages and seaside towns
  • Embrace the city life with great access to visit Brighton and London
  • With easy access to Gatwick and Heathrow and excellent railway links across the UK there is plenty of opportunity for adventure

We'd love you to join our organisation that is rated 'good' overall and 'outstanding' for caring by the CQC. Our staff agree, in our recent staff survey 82% told us that they recognise that care for patients is our top priority.

Key staff survey results include:
  • 70% highlighting flexible working opportunities as a key point for satisfaction at work
  • 79% reporting feeling able to make suggestions to improve the work within their team
  • 77% identifying the opportunities to show initiative in their roles

Job description Job responsibilities

This is an exciting and dynamic role that offers the opportunity for development and implementation of high-quality services. Previous experience of working in acute services or home treatment teams is desirable, although not essential. We offer excellent staff support through clinical supervision and teamwork. You will need a good understanding of the key policies influencing Urgent Care Services, alongside an ability to lead and drive change to improve patient and staff experience of working in our services.

As our Coastal Urgent Care Pathway moves towards CORE 24 standards, the post holder would need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service which could include working unsociable hours to enhance access to senior clinical assessment, review and treatment within a 24/7 service. This role supports the work of and across Urgent Care Teams (CRHTT, The Haven, Mental Health Liaison team and the MHDU at Worthing General Hospital) and as such the post holder may be expected to work across these teams as required.

Working unsocial hours does bring a salary increase, in line with Agenda for Change guidelines.

If you are looking for a role where you can use the nursing experience you have gathered to make a real and tangible difference to a new and developing service, then this is the job for you! We would particularly welcome applicants who have an interest in learning disability and autism.

If you are reading this and thinking this is the ideal job opportunity for you and you would like more information, please do contact me on the number below. I would welcome interested applicants for an informal visit and conversation about the role.
