Join our inspirational Adult Therapies Department at UHBW as a band 6 rotational Dietitian, working in the beautiful coastal town of Weston-super-Mare!

As a band 6 rotational Dietitian at Weston General Hospital, you will support inpatients across our 270 bedded hospital within a range of specialities, including general medicine, stroke, surgery, and our 5 bedded ICU.

The Weston dietetic team is made up of 18 dietetic professionals working across in and out-patient services. We work closely with our dietetic colleagues at the BRI who are part of the wider Adult Therapies Department.

Main duties of the job

The Dietitian is a specialist member of the dietetic team and is responsible for the delivery of a high quality, comprehensive dietetic service for UHBW. This clinical workload is augmented by a variety of teaching and training activities.

This comprehensive service provision is for acute inpatient beds & outpatients, across a number of pathways. This service will be provided under the guidance and supervision of the senior specialist dietitians.

Dietetic care within resources in conjunction with Senior Specialist Dietitians for patients on various patient pathways in the acute phase of a variety of clinical conditions.

Expert dietetic advice for individually referred inpatients the majority of which will require nutrition support, notably enteral and parenteral feeding.

Expert dietetic advice for individually referred patients in community setting with long term conditions requiring advice beyond basic healthy eating.

Using behaviour change skills & holistic approaches to support patients to manage their long-term goals.

The post holder also undertakes any other reasonable duties which may be identified in consultation with the Senior Specialist Dietitians, Team Leaders and Operational & Professional Lead for Adult Nutrition & Dietetic Services.

The post holder will be required to work 2 bank holidays out of a possible 6 within a year and contribute to future planned weekend department rota working.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • oQ1 HCPC Registration
  • oQ2 Evidence of continuing professional development
  • oQ3 Degree/Post Graduate qualification in nutrition or dietetics
  • oQ4 Clinical Supervisory Skills (Basic)

  • oQ5 BDA Membership
  • oQ6 PEN Group Clinical Update Course and/or Behaviour Change Course
