We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced orthoptist to join our friendly orthoptic department at Addenbrooke's Hospital. You will be working in our paediatric and adult orthoptic clinics and will also have the opportunity to gain valuable skills in neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma and AMD clinics. Applicants must have previous orthoptic experience, excellent communications skills and demonstrate good leadership and team working abilities.

You will have a varied and interesting workload with the opportunity to work alongside ophthalmologists who are experts in their field and be involved in teaching and CPD activities.

Main duties of the job
The worker is legally and professionally responsible for delivering highly skilled, patient focused care in the management of ocular motility disorders.
To provide orthoptic care as an autonomous practitioner, assessing, diagnosing and managing adult and paediatric patients referred to the orthoptic department.
To participate in the teaching of undergraduate orthoptic students and multidisciplinary professionals.
Deputise for the head orthoptist, manage other staff and assist with the management of the orthoptic service when required.
To carryout off site community orthoptic services at Anglia Ruskin University and Saffron Walden clinic.
Contribute to departmental teaching, research and audit, including the formulation and development of clinical and departmental guidelines in conjunction with senior staff.

- Orthoptic qualification recognised for State Registration (Diploma or Degree).
- State registration with the HCPC.
- Recognised clinical teaching qualification e.g. PTLLS, CTLLS.
Desirable
- Masters Level qualification in a related area.
- Medial exemptions for orthoptists.
- Leadership qualification.
Experience

- Advanced experience in all aspects of orthoptics as well as assessment of children with special needs and genetic anomalies.
- Visual field examination and interpretation.
- Competence in Humphrey visual fields.
- Experience of clinical supervision and assessment of Orthoptic students, and other students/junior staff requiring Orthoptic education.
