Children's EDOur brand-new children's emergency department is purpose built and includes 2 paediatric resuscitation bays, 6 major spaces, and an ENP service co-located within the emergency department, seeing minor illness and injury, as well as a 10 bedded children's assessment and decision unit. We also have our children's 20-bedded acute ward, a day services unit and extensive children's community services.

Community

Our Childrens Community teams consist of various Specialist teams, including Diabetes, Epilepsy, ADHD, Special schools, Children's Community Nurses, Chronic fatigue ,Special Needs health Visitors, and Roald Dahl Nurses.

Main duties of the job

Our rotational package for newly qualified nurses can be tailored to your needs and will encompass a diverse range of nursing skills and environments to nurture and develop your nursing practice.

Qualifications / Training

Essential

  • RSCN/RN Child with current NMC registration


Previous Experience

Essential

  • Experience and evidence of managing patient care.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own work load
  • Ability to use initiative, whilst demonstrating an awareness of own limits


Desirable

  • Previous experience of working with children and young people


Skills

Essential

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Competency in basic nursing skills
  • Evidence of practical application of Trust and national documentation standards
  • IT skills

  • Ability to negotiate


Knowledge

Essential

  • Contemporaneous theoretical and practical knowledge of acute/chronic Paediatric care and national policies
  • Up to date knowledge of: 1. NMC Code of Professional Conduct 2. Safeguarding Children processes 3. Hand hygiene and Care bundles 4. Quality Indicators 5. Health and safety awareness 6. Clinical Governance and quality issues 7. Risk management
