The post-holder supports the department sisters in ensuring robust clinical practices amongst all staff.

Support cross county service in both of the counties Orthopaedic and fracture clinics.

You proactively promote staff education and development, ensuring its relevance to the practice area and individual needs

Actively promote robust infection control practices. Assist the department sisters to maintain high standards of cleanliness in the clinical area and for a well-maintained clinical environment.

Job responsibilities

The ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care with the multidisciplinary team.

-Communicate effectively especially where patient ability to do so is compromised. An ability to disseminate contentious and delicate information appropriately.

- To deliver safe care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using equipment and resources safely and as appropriate throughout the cross county service provision.

- To administer medication and treatment within Procedure for the Ordering, Prescribing and Administration of Medication Guidelines.

- To deliver and receive information which may cause emotional distress to all parties.

- Participate in mentorship and educational programmes for students and other members of the team.

- To adhere to all Trust policies and procedures and professional code of conduct. To assist the department sisters in the implementation of policy and service.

- Responsible for the supervision and mentorship for unqualified/qualified staff and students.

- To input and retrieve patient information from computer based system and maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records.

- Supports multi-professional within the department, advising patients on pre-operative and post-operative care including wound care.

Undertake specific delegated tasks following the appropriate training and competency level e.g. application of simple off the shelf splints and braces, remove plaster casts, record ECG, MRSA screening and venepuncture, arranging admission of patients to wards from clinic.

  • Educated at degree level

  • Post registration development (Teaching and Assessing qualification)

Desirable

  • Wide variety of general nursing skills relevant to the different clinic sub-specialties within the department
  • Registered nurse with appropriate experience
  • Mentoring/facilitation/teaching/assessing and coaching
