The Trust has set a clear direction to ensure the effective and efficient use of the technology and digital information in place, to improve the quality of care, patient safety, and creation of efficiencies. The Electronic Patient Record (EPR) is an integral part of this strategy and is transforming how the clinical teams function. We are 18 months into our transformation journey but still have a lot to do.
The Senior Digital Nurse team is made up of experienced Nurses who understand nursing processes and workflows to be part of transforming our documentation onto our digital systems who support the development and implementation of the EPR.
As Benefits Lead for the EPR team you will need to be able to lead a team to support the baselining, identification and reporting of benefits within the EPR.
Main duties of the job
Be knowledgeable in clinical processes and have the vision to adapt paper-based processes to a digital format, using evidenced based practice.
Use a wide range of knowledge base and sources to determine required factors of assessment or admission, ensuring a safe patient pathway.
Understand change management processes and be able to adapt the approach to a wide range of stakeholders.
Identify, quantify, plan, review and report EPR benefits. Liaising with stakeholders and producing reports for presentation and discussion at Exec level meetings.
Understand and act as champion for the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
Participate in Directorate/Departmental meetings and lead on digital discussions with clinical peers.
Act as a role model when carrying out and demonstrating digital solutions.

The SDN EPR Benefits Lead:
Will work very closely with Chief Nursing Information Officer, The EPR Transformation Lead, the Digital Care Record (DCR) team and clinical and nursing teams within the clinical environment to understand the current ways of working with the goal of supporting the delivery of the DCR across the Trust.
Will work with the Chief Nursing Information Officer and Clinical teams, to define new processes and ways of working, ensuring that these are safe and do not compromise patient care.
Will assist in the training for all Clinical teams. This will include the production of training materials on system functionality as well as working with the Nursing Education teams to ensure the systems, solutions and processes are embedded safely across the organisation.
Will support the Clinical teams in the new ways of working ensuring they are able to adopt the new solutions. This will include taking on-board feedback and working with the system configuration teams to enable system change as required.
Will provide floor walking support as the new processes become embedded within the Trust. This will include key go-live support as well as ad-hoc visits to areas requiring specialist support.
Will analyse inpatient and outpatient work practices, working with our Clinical teams supporting changes to process to achieve increased efficiency and enhanced clinical effectiveness through the DCR
Will work with clinical, nursing, operational management and support teams across the wider Trust and NHS,
As an ambassador of the profession, you will ensure clinical practice, supported by digital technology, supports professional standards and that functionality deployed adheres to / supports practitioners professional standards e.g. the Nursing and Midwifery Council

Quantification of benefits - forecasting/estimating the scale of benefits anticipated using complex spreadsheets and tools supplied by external partners so require advanced keyboard skills and good knowledge of excel spreadsheets
Value and appraise
Informed options analysis - to compare the various options of achieving the desired outcomes and benefits
Investment appraisal - to assess whether the benefits justify the costs required
Portfolio prioritisation - to rank potential investments in priority order where resources are limited

Check the overall set of benefits included within the Benefits Dependency Map and benefits register remain aligned to the programme's objectives and to reprioritise or realign them as necessary.
Inform stakeholders and the programme board of progress in benefits realisation and help to identify any further potential for benefits.
Assess the performance of the changed clinical and/or business operations against their original baseline performance levels.
Assess the levels of benefits achieved against the benefits realisation plan
Review the effectiveness of the way in which benefits management is being handled, so that lessons can be learned processes can be improved - if there are fundamental concerns about the effectiveness of benefits management then the benefits management strategy may also need to be revised.
Report
Liaise directly with stakeholders to collate information for Benefits reports, including assessing success and failure of benefits realisation, potentially having to deliver unwelcome news to stakeholders.
Produce regular reports on progress of Benefits realisation and present to EPR Programme Steering Group
Its essential that you are confident and can provide effective clinical leadership to facilitate the improved delivery of patient care through digital change.
We need to ensure that the highest standard of care is delivered to our patients and you will be involved in all aspects of planning, delivery and evaluation of clinical processes to align with the new EPR, as well as other digital change projects as required.
You will be expected to communicate key messages across the Digital Healthcare Team and the Trust in order to keep staff updated, reassured and enthusiastic as we introduce new technologies to support safer, effective & more efficient care.
