Job summaryThe post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality MCA/DOLS service providing professional advice, support and education to the multi-professional team, patient and carers.
Using their specialist advice to enable the recognition, prioritisation andappropriate response to support the requirements for Mental Capacity assessments, Best Interest decision making processes, DoLS applications and Court of Protection cases.
Main duties of the job
As an experienced registered professional the post holder will provide professional leadership and guidance, to ensure compliance with MCA (2005) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (2009) with a view to working in line with Liberty Protection Safeguards if they are introduced.
This role will convey and present highly complex and sensitive informationwritten and verbal, formally and informally as appropriate.
Working in conjunction with the Head of Safeguarding Families and the Named Nurses, to ensure standards are monitored and that the golden thread of MCA is being consistently applied, through observation in practice. To record, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the MCA/DoLS training strategy, ensuring all staff has access to the level of education and training required.
To support the development and implementation of MCA/DoLS practice across the Trust, ensuring effective multi-agency liaison and training on MCA/DoLS.
The role requires deputising for the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Adults, alongside providing safeguarding adults advice and support for staff.
