We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Learning Disability or Mental Health Nurse.
The post holder will have experience of working with people with learning disabilities, mental health issues and a forensic history.
We provide specialist care for people with learning disabilities as part of Swansea Bay University Health Board's Mental Health and Learning Disability Delivery Unit.
The successful candidate will be required to work as part of a seven-day service, which includes weekend, nights and bank holidays.
Ty garth Newydd offers a dynamic and challenging work environment, supporting adults with Learning Disabilities who present with behaviours which can challenge. We aim to provide a high quality, person centred approach based on the Positive Behaviour Support model of care.
The post is open to all nurses currently holding registration with the NMC, including newly qualified staff nurses. We offer a supportive preceptorship program for all newly qualified nurses.
Main duties of the job
To manage the ward for a span of duty and liaise with the MDT to deliver specialist healthcare to meet the needs of the patients.
To act as Primary nurse for a small group of individuals and adhere to legislative frameworks.
To promote equality for all service users through anti discriminatory practice, supporting individuals' rights, choices, beliefs and identity and by supporting individuals through effective communication.
