An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic nurse to be a part of our Dermatology team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and work as a specialist nurse.
You will be responsible forproviding senior clinical nursing leadership and professional development for the nursing and support workers within the clinical area. Youwill provide professional advice and support to the whole multidisciplinary team in caring for patients.
You will also be involved in developing and delivering high quality patient cantered care and work with the Divisional team to ensure this is incorporated into the business objectives.
You may be required to work across both Chelsea and West Middlesex Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality clinical services within the context of a clinical governance framework.
The post holder will be responsible for providing senior clinical nursing leadership and professional development for the nursing and support workers within the clinical area. They will provide professional advice and support to the whole multidisciplinary team in caring for patients.
The post holder will also provide nursing leadership for implementation and evaluation of all education, training and development of staff. They will develop, implement and evaluate policies, guidelines and protocols for the management of patients attending the clinical area in conjunction with the specialist MDT teams. They will be responsible for the interpretation of and maintaining compliance with Trust policies.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a suitable and safe environment for patients and staff. They will be aware of the Care Quality Commission and work with the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that they are maintained. The post holder will also be involved in developing and delivering high quality patient centered care and working with the divisional team to ensure this is incorporated within the business objectives.
The post holder will be required to work across both hospital sites on occasions.

Provide skilled assessment of patients including history taking, skin assessment, requesting, interpreting and acting upon appropriate tests, investigations and results in a timely manner.
Using expert and specialist clinical and theoretical knowledge in order to safely and appropriately assess and diagnose patients in their care.
To be proficient and act as a role model with the provision of direct patient care where needed in all areas of Dermatology Outpatients including Phototherapy, Daycare, assisting in Theatre during minor operation/MOHS procedures, Iontophoresis, PDT, Patch Testing, Wound care.
Act autonomously within evidence based guidelines to plan and implement individualised management plans using clinical decision making skills to manage illness for patients within the department and on the ward, and escalate any issues as required.
Contribute to the performance of diagnostic procedures for the Dermatitis Service, training nursing staff in gaining relevant competencies for Patch Testing, and overview this service.
Prescribe appropriately as a Non-Medical Prescriber within area of specialty from an agreed formulary in line with Trust Protocols and Guidelines and within own scope of professional practice. Attend regular NMP updates as required.
To recognize own limitations within practice and appropriately seek advice and/or refer patients to other clinicians when required.
Accept referrals from the multidisciplinary team and other disciplines, and provide specialist advice and support to colleagues within the organisation.
Be responsible for ensuring own professional registration is up to date and maintain practice within accordance of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

- Already established in Managing own case load of patients with minimal supervision on Biologics & systemic treatments for chronic inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis and dermatitis according to guidelines and under the supervision of an Advanced Nurse practitioner.
