The Cancer and Clinical Support services Clinical Group at BHRUT are looking to appoint a substantive Clinical Group Director of Nursing / Midwifery / Healthcare Professionals. This is an exciting role overseeing a diverse group of clinical specialities including oncology, haematology, palliative care, radiology, pathology, and pharmacy.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and inspire teams whilst promoting high standards and excellence in patient outcomes. The focus will be on enhancing clinical governance and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care across all services.

We are looking for a compassionate and inclusive leader to join our dynamic triumvirate team. Your priority will be to continue elevate patient care, review and refine our clinical governance systems, ensuring effective quality framework is in place and that our staff are supported and listened to. You will be a visible and approachable leader, offering clinical leadership that inspires, motivates, and empowers Nurses, and Healthcare Professionals working within the Clinical Group.

You will report to the Clinical Group Director and be professionally accountable to the Chief Nurse. You will also be accountable for contributing and implementing the Clinical Group and Trust's strategic objectives and serve as the lead for professional nursing and AHP issues within the Clinical Group.

Main duties of the job

This is a pivotal clinical group leadership role that will work as part of the Clinical Group triumvirate, taking joint accountability for the leadership of the Clinical Group.

We require a leader who can shape the future of the Trust and provide care to the diverse communities which rely on our services. As the Clinical Group Director of Nursing / Midwifery / Healthcare Professionals, you will provide management oversight, leadership and expert advice to Clinical Group Matrons/Clinical Heads of service on a variety of clinical issues to ensure clinical, safeguarding and educational standards set by the Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Clinical Cabinet are implemented and monitored within the Clinical Group.

You will have specific responsibility for the review and implementation of our clinical group governance and quality framework.

About us

We provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. Most of our 7,800 permanent staff live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals and we operate from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London - more than 300,000 people visited our A& Es in 2023. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Community Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

We're pleased to be leading the way in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings forurgent and emergency careat Queen's and King George hospitals anddata released by NHS England showed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.

This post requires a real commitment to the principles of devolution of decision making to clinical teams. The post holder will be skilled at coaching individuals to enable them to deliver excellent clinical care. Working closely with the Clinical Group Director of Ops, you will enable clinical leads and their teams to establish themselves as fully functioning service lines.
