We are looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist (0.8 WTE) to join our thriving LD CAMHS team in Swindon. This specialist multi-disciplinary team is part of the wider Community CAMHS team in Swindon, all working from the same base. This offers a fantastic opportunity for joint working and collaboration as well as offering good professional links and supervision with the clinical psychologists in the CAMHS team.

The post holder will be involved in planning and delivering a range of psychological services to children and young people (0-18) with LD, neuro-developmental difficulties and linked co-morbid mental health problems. There will be plenty of opportunities to use and develop skills in psychological consultation and systemic working, as well as developing relationships with other agencies including Social Care and Special Schools. There may also be opportunities to supervise other professionals within the wider team and across the clinical area of BSW.

We are highly committed to CPD and it is an exciting time in the CAMHS Learning Disability Service as we are investing in PBS training. There is an active Clinical Psychology body across the area (BSW) who meet regularly, promoting professional development and providing opportunity for specialist supervision and shared learning. There are also plans to develop professional links across Oxford Health (into Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire) which will offer further opportunity for specialist CPD and networking.

There are close links with the other four CAMHS teams in the locality and the specialist LD services they provide, and there will be an opportunity to be part of a BSW wide Clinical Development group for LD CAMHS.

We have a strong commitment to Clinical Psychology training and the post holder will be involved in offering training placements for the new Bath University Doctorate Programme, as well as teaching and being able to access the University’s CPD programme.

We would also encourage Band 7s with a strong commitment to children and young people with Learning Difficulties to get in touch as we would be open to consider this as a development opportunity with the Job Description amended accordingly.
