We are pleased to introduce a new Band 6 Workforce Planning and OD Project Manager post on a fixed term basis to support our mental health services with workforce planning.

If you have a passion for training and upskilling others excellent experience in data analysis and workforce information systems and have a good understanding of workforce planning, or are keen to learn more about this important area of Workforce and OD then we would welcome your application.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the post are to work with a range of professions within our mental health services to:
  • upskill in the Skills for Health Six Steps Integrated Workforce Planning Methodology, designing and delivering various learning solutions as appropriate, including workshops
  • support, provide guidance and facilitate service and workforce re-design
  • design and implement workforce analysis and modelling tools
  • project manage and assist with the delivery of various workforce planning requirements
  • provide regular reports, presentations and briefings

The ideal candidate will be one who is:
  • Proactive with a continuous learning mind-set
  • Able to work to deadlines and organise work well according to priorities
  • Able to facilitate training sessions/ workshops, present work and give briefings at various meetings and boards
  • Although home working is available, the post holder will be required to travel within, and on occasion, beyond the SBU Health Board area to facilitate or attend relevant face to face events, as and when required (use of own car will be essential.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcometo apply

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience/ qualifications or significant experience of working at a similar level in a specialist area
  • Specialist knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques to post graduate diploma level or equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of programme/ project management processes
  • Knowledge of processes to deliver learning solutions


Desirable

  • Project management qualification
  • Knowledge and understanding of The Six Steps Methodology to Integrated Workforce Planning (Skills for Health)
  • Knowledge of NHS mental health services


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable project management experience with evidence of affecting change, process redesign and establishing monitoring/evaluation mechanisms ideally within an NHS setting
  • Experience of working in partnership with a range of organisations
  • Experience of working to targets and outcomes in a programme management environment
  • Experience of delivering learning solutions
  • Experience of delivering data solutions
  • Experience of making presentations and giving briefings
  • Experience of service innovation and development


Attributes and abilities

Essential

  • Ability to receive and communicate complex information in a multi-disciplinary working environment and across organisations
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to analyse and interpret complex information from a wide range of sources and produce high quality written reports in an appropriate format for the target audience
  • Ability to plan and organise complex activities which require the formulation and adjustment of project plans
  • Able to function effectively and efficiently under pressure.
  • IT Skills: word processing, databases, spreadsheets, Power point, web browsing
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel within and outside the Health Board area in a timely manner/ use of own car
