We are seeking to appoint a Senior Audiologist to join our busy and friendly team. This is a fixed term post for one year in the first instance. The hours are 37.5 hours per week, and there may also be occasional, additional Saturday working to cover ENT clinics.You will need to be a well-motivated, enthusiastic qualified Audiologist.

We are an innovative department, providing a comprehensive audiology service. You will join a highly motivated team, committed to providing a high quality service.

Responsibilities will be in the testing and (re)habilitation of adults and children with hearing difficulties. You will be a competent practitioner and able to work without supervision in the main department, on domiciliary visits and at satellite clinics. You will be expected to develop specialist expertise in some of our complex adult clinics, so experience with complex adult pathways is essential.

You must have excellent communication skills and have a desire to findcreative and effective solutions for patients with a variety of hearing problems. We are a training department and you would be expected to contribute to training junior staff and PTP and STP trainees.

You will have at least a BSc in Audiology or equivalent and will already have gained experience in a clinical setting. RCCP registration or equivalent is essential.

Main duties of the job

This post is concerned with the provision of routine and specialist rehabilitation services for hearing impaired adults and diagnostic hearing testing. Opportunities in paediatric audiology clinics are also likely dependent on your previous experience.

You will be expected to work independently if required both at satellite clinics and on domiciliary visits. You will maintain own professional knowledge and contribute to the clinical developments of the department.

You will use your knowledge and experience in the training and supervision of junior staff.

Qualifications

Essential

• BSc or MSc in Audiology or equivalent
• BAAT I and II or equivalent
• If not yet eligible for registration, must be working towards this
• RCCP registered

Experience

Essential

• Previous experience in clinical audiology underpinned by specialist theoretical knowledge as outlined above.

Desirable

• Previous experience in paediatric audiology.

Knowledge

Essential

• Able to work independently following departmental and national procedures without direct supervision maintaining accountability for own professional actions. Provide range of clinical audiology services without direct supervision: -Hearing assessment in adults and children (age 4 and above) -Use of diagnostic tests (eg for the assessment of middle ear function) -Use of specialist tests of hearing function -Hearing rehabilitation in adults including more complex cases -Repair clinics requiring broad knowledge of a large range of hearing aids -Understands anatomy and physiology of hearing and able to identify patients requiring further specialist intervention. -Able to determine appropriate rehabilitative interventions from a range of options
• Understands the workings of a broad range of hearing aids and their processing strategies.
