University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is a large multi-site maternity service provider. This post is based at Leicester General Hospital, however all employees have the possibility of cross-site working.

We are looking for dynamic and motivated midwives who wish to become part of the Delivery Suite Coordinator and Band 7 Team. Main duties of the job

You will be part of a 24 hour roster, coordinating a busy delivery suite including unplanned care alongside planned care such as the induction of labour and elective caesarean pathways. You will also be responsible for having oversight of the maternity assessment unit and ante/post natal ward- particularly out of hours.

You will be expected to support junior members of the multi-disciplinary team in their development completing appraisals, LCAT assessments and acting as a clinical expert and role model in the area. You will be expected to address poor performance and escalate concerns, should they present.

You will be required to hold the maternity unit bleep out of hours and undertake identified management responsibilities relevant to working in an acute clinical setting.

You will be required to liaise with and support the other sites and areas where UHL delivers maternity services, in order to establish safe service and improved patient experience provision across all areas.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will have 24 hour continuing responsibility for quality of care of their designated clinical area and ensure co-ordination between the maternity wards, labour ward, birth centre and maternity assessment unit as well as cross site collaborative working.

The post holder will be clinically visible, accessible and responsive to the needs of service users, patients, carers and the public and to provide direction and effective and inspirational leadership to the midwifery and Multi-disciplinary team within the area for which they are accountable.

The post holder will also act as an expert clinical practitioner providing personally and through their ward team an excellent quality of care to patients and service users. They will also demonstrate high quality compassionate leadership, acting as a role model at all times across the maternity service and the wider organisation.

You will be expected to provide a supportive environment for all students and learners on placement within the ward /unit for which they are responsible.

The successful candidate will support and resolve conflict with service users, peers and members of the wider MDT, as well as support and develop colleagues to be able to do this.

Essential

• Degree in Midwifery or equivalent experience
• Recognised teaching/mentoring qualification
• Evidence of post qualification development
• Has relevant clinical experience in acute care setting
