Main duties of the job

This role involves providing specialised physiotherapy skills within the inpatient service to ensure safe, efficient, and effective patient care aligned with evidence-based practices and standards.

Key responsibilities include working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, participating in service development projects, and autonomously assessing and treating complex cases. The role requires flexibility to support both inpatient and outpatient teams, including weekend work as needed. It also involves providing clinical supervision, with 80% of the role focused on clinical contact and 20% on operational management, guiding Band 5 and support staff in delivering therapeutic care plans.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registered
  • Evidence of CPD (portfolio)
  • CSP member


Desirable

  • Evidence of post graduate training/qualification relevant to clinical area
  • Member of CSP Specialist section - AGILE


Experience

Essential

  • NHS Acute Hospital experience
  • Variety of clinical experience throughout core hospital-based rotations
  • Minimum 4 months experience of working on an ITU and Respiratory wards
  • Respiratory/ On Call competency
  • Multi-Disciplinary Working
  • Demonstrate active involvement in the audit process
  • Awareness of change management principles
  • Undertaking Annual Appraisals
  • Experience of developing staff and sharing knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate working with regional/national networks
  • Experience of working collaboratively with community teams


Desirable

  • Experience in community-based roles
  • Supervising and mentoring junior members of staff and pre-registration students


Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of value of admission avoidance and Home First Principles
  • Sound knowledge of the multi-disciplinary team within Acute Medicine, general surgery & respiratory medicine
  • Working knowledge of procedures and policies relating to line management
