Exciting changes are happening in our team with great opportunities ahead in our recently Integrated Children's Occupational Therapy service in Waltham Forest, London.

We are looking for an innovative occupational therapist, to work with the CAMHS team.

The successful candidate will work jointly with CAMHS clinicians including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and speech therapist to complete neurodevelopmental assessments for children and young people who may have conditions such as ASD and ADHD.

You will bring an occupational focus to the assessments, help identify how sensory differences, and other factors may be affecting the child or young person's activities of daily living. You will provide advice to parents, school and young people to help them understand this and support the young person.

You will strive to equip children and young people to develop independence and self management and to participate in all that supports their leading full and happy lives.

You will hold a caseload, including completing post assessment reports.

You will need to demonstrate excellent clinical knowledge, ability to provide highly specialist assessment and advanced therapeutic skills as well as high standards of time management and organisational skills. You will have excellent communication skillsand thrive on working as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

Providing a high standard Occupational Therapy service to children aged between 0-18 years referred to the Waltham Forest Children's Occupational Therapy Service, working in a range of settings including clinic, schools and children's own homes.The post holder will be responsible for a defined caseload, working autonomously with access to supervision.The post holder will provide functional assessment of children with special needs and disabilities.The post holder will contribute to planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Occupational Therapy Service provided to children.

They will participate in evidence-based audit and research to further their own and the team's clinical practice and make recommendations for changes to practice, contributing to changes in or development of service protocols.The post holder will plan and facilitate training/education sessions.The post holder will support their peers and team leader and be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively support and liaise with other health and social care professionals.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of �4,313 to a maximum of �5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of �1,192 to a maximum of �2,011 p.a. pro rata for part time).
