Nurse Education Team, Nursing Directorate

Permanent 37.5 hours

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Nurse Education Manager within the Nurse Education team. The post would suit an individual who is passionate about the clinical education of others.

The role of Nurse Education Manager has the ability to shape the future education delivery for the Trust. The post holder will be required to support the development of nursing learners and preceptees across all Trust practice areas.

We are looking for an experienced nurse who is an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with proven facilitation and leadership qualities.

The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate experience of working at a Band 6 or Band 7 level within Nurse Education. They will be expected to use highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to develop, support and motivate individuals and groups within the learning environments, have experience of change management and be able to promote professional development and learning that enhances patient care.

Main duties of the job

To support the Nurse Education Lead to deliver on the following:
  • To work with AEIs, NHSE and other providers to recruit nursing learners.
  • To work in partnership with Oxleas directorates and AEIs to allocate clinical placements for nursing learners and support learners in practice.
  • To deliver the nursing preceptorship programmes and evaluate their outcomes.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To monitor clinical placement areas and support achievement of learning outcomes for nursing learners and ensure that any issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • To support and maintain a database of current nursing learners and clinical placement areas to ensure placement mapping is correct and current.
  • To support and maintain database of practice supervisors/assessors.
  • To work in collaboration with the AEIs to undertake clinical audit of placement areas.
  • To develop and sustain effective working relationships with all partners in ensuring effective learning outcomes.
  • Manage placement enquiries and issues from clinical staff, students and AEIs and refer these on as appropriate.
  • Ensure directorate engagement in the education agenda through being a visible presence in service directorates.
  • Support delivery of the preceptorship programme for all newly registered nurses and nursing associates
  • Keep up to date with professional developments, national initiatives, and government changes, that will impact on the provision of clinical learning experiences.
  • To represent the organisation at a range of national events as required.
  • Attend local, sector wide, pan London and National meetings and use learning to inform practice.
