We are pleased to be able to offer an excellent opportunity for an experienced mental health clinician to join our Mandatory and Essential Skills Training team. We are looking for a registered clinical professional who is passionate about the development of others and has an interest in the design and delivery of mental health clinical skills training. While it would beneficial, this role does not require a background in education as you will be working with an established team who would benefit from your clinical experience and understanding of learning in the workplace.
You should have experience with clinical risk assessment in mental health services and be able to support the workforce in achieving proficiencies in practice. This role also has the potential to get involved in the development of innovative simulated learning relating to mental health practice and trialling emerging learning technologies.
A good candidate will have a strong clinical background that includes experience of assessing skills competence in specialist mental health clinical settings. They will demonstrate the ability to engage, support, motivate and lead others to deliver high quality care.
An excellent candidate will be able to demonstrate their professionalism and innovative attitude to challenges in the workplace, and a commitment to empowering others.

1. Lead and manage allocated projects as part of the overall mandatory and essential skills training strategy providing a high quality, responsive service to meet the needs of the workforce
2. Lead on design and delivery of mandatory training relating to sexual safety and therapeutic observations.
3. Lead on scoping and implementation plans for the delivery of training and development to all relevant staff relating to essential clinical risk skills in a specialist mental health context
4. Identify training needs of staff and lead on design and delivery/commissioning of training, using internal and external training resources, to meet identified need, to be delivered within budget and timescale, in accordance with agreed strategy
5. Lead on review and update of existing training programmes within remit to ensure that they continue to meet the needs of the services
6. Lead on implementation of national and organisational clinical competencies to ensure that both modern design and delivery models are used, and that impact on practice post-delivery can be evidenced
7. Maintain an overview of the use of technology enhanced learning tools in relevant training programmes and lead on maintenance of course content presented in a virtual learning environment
8. Ensure appropriate organisation of training venues and logistics to achieve efficient training attendance and delivery
9. To lead the ongoing development and management of quality assurance of training for essential clinical skills in a specialist mental health context.
10. Provide consultation and guidance to managers, clinical leads and other stakeholders in relation to the meeting the training needs of staff in the context of evolving service delivery.
11. To lead in the collaboration and negotiation with Service Managers and other stakeholders internal and external to ensure delivery, methodology and implementation of the training programme meets service needs
12. Ensure availability of specialist learning and development advice, support and consultation to the Trust

14. To prepare training activity reports and presentations for strategic management groups and stakeholders as required
