We are looking for a well-motivated, enthusiastic HCPC registered BMS to join our team.

For newly qualified BMS there is support for completion of the specialist portfolio. The successful candidate will be expected to work as required at any of the 3 laboratory sites. Following suitable training you will be expected to participate in the 24/7 working pattern and rotate through the various sections of the department.

  • Unregistered individuals with an IBMS accredited BMS degree will be employed as a Trainee band 5 BMS using Annex 21 (formally Annex U - at 75%)
  • The department may consider applications from indivduals about to complete an accredited BSc in BMS

The department offers one of the largest Clinical Chemistry and Immunology repertoires in the UK, currently receiving over 3,500 samples each day and has fully automated analytical equipment. Specialist assays are offered on both a regional and supra-regional basis for special proteins, steroid and protein hormones, porphyrins, trace metals, molecular diagnostics, metabolic assays and Immunology tests.

Main duties of the job

To provide, in a professional manner, quality analysis of biochemistry tests for patients of the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, Cardiff and Vale Local Health Boards, and for tertiary referral samples from other UK laboratories sent for specialist investigations.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
