Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist to join the Neurophysiology Department at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust for a period until 31/10/2024. This 10 PA post is based at Charing Cross Hospital.

The post has arisen due to the retirement of the existing post-holder. Clinical activity will entail providing a comprehensive Neurophysiology service. Services include outpatient/inpatient EEG, long term monitoring (includes Ambulatory EEG, Home VTEL and inpatient Video telemetry), all modalities of Evoked potentials, physiologist-led NCS clinics and consultant-led NCS/ EMG clinics

The post-holder will work as part of team of four consultants, two locum Consultants and seven clinical physiologists, with a dedicated administration team

Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining Certificate of Completion of Training or equivalent at time of interview.

Main duties of the job

Clinical work will comprise of performing EMG and complex Nerve Conduction Study testing on both adults and paediatrics. The post-holder will be required to undertake reporting of varying modalities off EEG (Routine, Ambulatory and Telemetry)

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • On GMC's register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to Practice
  • On GMC's Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the register by the date of the interviews or eligible for specialist registration
  • Appropriate Royal College Membership
  • Specialist training in Clinical Neurophysiology
  • CCST achieved or within 6 months of interview date


Knowledge/ Skills

Essential

  • Experience of EMG, NCS, EEG, Ambulatory EEG, Home VTEL, EP -Paediatric and adult patients


Leadership/ Management skills

Essential

  • Able to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority
  • Have proven skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues
  • Knowledge of finance/budgets

Teaching/ Training

  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/postgraduates and junior medical staff
