We are looking for a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the adult Learning Disability Intensive Assessment and Treatment Team (IATT) based at Estuary House, to clinically cover the South Devon & Torbay area.

Across Devon learning disability services, Occupational Therapy is a large and well respected profession within IATT teams. Our work is integral to the Learning Disability evidence based care pathways including; Behaviours that Challenge, Dementia, Mental Health, and Complex Health. Occupational Therapy contribute to the formulation and planning of Positive Behaviour Support Plans, memory clinics, STOMP and much more. We have a strong role in supporting the development of capable environments around the needs of our client group. Our core business as Occupational Therapists is specialist assessment and intervention to promote engagement in meaningful occupations to maximise health and wellbeing.
The post holder will provide management and clinical support to junior Occupational Therapy staff based within the team alongside Occupational Therapy students and apprentices. Therapists are encouraged to be innovative and motivated in contributing to the leadership and development of the Learning Disability Occupational Therapy service.
Due to the large geographical area of work suitable access to transport will be required.

We are looking for an imaginative, creative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to work with people with learning disabilities displaying distressed behaviour who have complex needs. The post holder will focus on assessing and providing specialist Occupational Therapy interventions and/or consultation and advice to support people to be an active member of their home and community, promoting engagement in meaningful occupations.
The post holder will have experience of managing a specialist caseload of adults with severe and complex learning disabilities who have additional health needs in a variety of settings in the community.
The post holder will have an interest in sensory processing assessment and treatment and experience in utilising specialist evidence based assessment and outcome measurement. Where required we will support clinicians to undertake necessary training to develop these skills.

The Occupational Therapy post is based within the South & Torbay Intensive Assessment and Team (IATT) at Estuary House, Newton Abbot. The clinical work undertaken will be across the Torbay and South Devon area. There are also some team-wide functions that the therapist will contribute to.
We have excellent clinical leadership and supervision structures, hold regular Occupational Therapy meetings to include linking in with the wider trust AHPs, enabling regular CPD and learning opportunities. There is opportunity to develop specialist skills in sensory integration assessment and intervention with the support of trust wide clinical governance and peer supervision structures.
