CNWL are currently looking for a full time Speciality Doctor for a newly-created post as part of the tri-borough Community Learning Disability Team, providing specialist services for people with Learning Disability with Autism / Mental Illness / significant behaviours of concerns, in the boroughs of Westminster, Hammersmith & Fulham and Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.
The post would be ideal for an experienced Specialty Doctor who wishes to work with support from one Higher Trainee and three very experienced Consultant Psychiatrists.

Main duties of the job
The post holders' responsibilities will be working with a cohort of patients comprising those most at risk of hospital admission or placement breakdown, and those previously admitted and subject to S117 aftercare. This will be as part of a new service namely the Behavioural Intensive Support Service.
The post holder will have a caseload of patients (around 50) and they will be expected to work autonomously but closely with the 3 Consultant Psychiatrists covering the 3 boroughs, and the wider multidisciplinary teams. The named clinical supervisor for the post holder is Dr Alina Bakala, Consultant psychiatrist in Hammersmith and Fulham. The post holder will also access supervision and support from the other two consultant psychiatrists as needed.
About us
The Trust manages an element of Learning Disability service across seven Boroughs,for people with a Learning Disability who have mental illness and/or behaviour disorders so challenging that the local services are unable to meet their needs. The Trust also manages three community health teams in Brent, Hillingdon and Harrow, and employs other members of LD staff within other boroughs namely Westminster, Hammersmith and Fulham, Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and Enfield.
We provide a range of specialist community as well as Inpatient Services to meet the needs of individuals with learning disabilities who present with behavioural impairment and/or mental health problems and/or Autistic Spectrum Conditions an /or forensic issues whose needs cannot be met within mainstream services.We are committed to providing:

Clinical duties and opportunities
1. Providing a good standard of practice and care You will undertake Clinical assessment of Adults with Learning Disability, and Autism / mental illness / behaviours of concern You will ensure that all new patients referred to the service are clinically assessed appropriately. Often assessments are collaborative with the multidisciplinary team. You will provide regular reviews for patients as appropriate, informing your clinical supervisor and team as needed about any risks and management difficulties. You will maintain accurate, legible, contemporaneous and useful clinical records for all patients in whose care you are involved and this will be recorded on The Trust Information System.
2. Decisions about access to care
You will use the Results of The Clinical Assessment to Ensure Effective Patient Management
Under the supervision of clinical supervisor, you will prescribe pharmacological and psychosocial treatments for the patients that you are working with. Assess their medical and other clinical needs where necessary, refer them promptly to other professionals as directed by your clinical supervisor.
3. Treatment in urgent situations
You will review people for urgent psychiatric assessment(s) during the day where needed and where this is possible.
4. Maintaining good medical practice
You will maintain and Use Systems to Update Knowledge and its Application to Any Aspect of your Professional Practice
You will participate in clinical work and Departmental activities and will contribute to meeting these objectives.
5. Teaching and training, appraising and assessing
You will plan, deliver and evaluate teaching and learning in a variety of environments
You will plan and participate in the teaching of other professionals including medical students where needed, under the supervision of senior colleagues
