An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and innovative Podiatry Clinical and Operational Lead in Hertfordshire. We are looking for an applicant who is dynamic and passionate about their work.

Based in Hemel Hempstead, you will lead the Podiatry team across West Hertfordshire and work closely alongside the clinical and administrative teams with support from the Clinical Head of Service to develop services to provide a modern and robust service.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an inspirational and approachable leader, who works in a non-judgmental way, building robust working relationships within the multi-disciplinary team and with our patient group.

You will provide support to individuals and teams but be able to make decisions to strengthen performance and deliver quality outcomes for the local population.

Job responsibilities

  • The purpose of this role is to provide expert operational leadership in conjunction with the clinical team to deliver, monitor service standards and ensure quality of care.
  • The post holder will be accountable for the provision of effective professional leadership and pro-active resource management for all relevant pathways.
  • As a professional practitioner, the post holder will be expected to create an environment of continuous quality improvement and professional development ensuring that the delivery of care is regularly reviewed and that service developments are implemented when necessary

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current AHP with UK HCPC registration
  • Podiatry professional qualification.
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent postgraduate courses
  • Broad range of clinical experience relevant to the post.


Desirable

  • Post graduate qualification
  • Previous NHS operational management experience
  • Leadership qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Able to apply a high level of knowledge & skills in clinical setting
  • Experience of service delivery in acute and community settings
  • Experience of staff management & leadership skills
  • Experience of budget management


Desirable

  • Experience of training students and/or colleagues
  • Participation in audit research projects service development
  • Post registration experience in a NHS community environment


Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of clinical governance and its implications for services, including experience of quality issues, research and audit
  • The ability to maintain up to date clinical knowledge and skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, report writing, presentation kills, behavioural change skills
  • Ability to work independently seeking supervision where appropriate.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to effectively manage staff and to undertake appraisals
  • Able to make decisions involving complex facts and situations, plus manage / reconcile conflict
  • Exceptional analytical skills and a high level of numeracy
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively, set priorities, meet deadlines and deal with complex work pressures, demands and interruptions.
  • Ability to deal professionally and objectively with distressing/uncomfortable situations, e.g. terminally ill patients, child abuse, providing guidance to team members where appropriate

  • Prior experience of managing poor practice ? Prior experience of using SystmOne
  • Interpretation of X-rays and CT scans
  • Range of different posts with varying requirements throughout previous career history.
