We are looking for someone passionate about working with people with cancer, who has excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary colleagues.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join the Clinical Psychology team at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care, Freeman Hospital, in providing a specialist clinical psychology service to both oncology and haematology.
The role includes direct clinical work in a variety of settings, alongside provision of consultation, supervision, teaching, training and research & development.
Essential requirements include doctoral level training in clinical /counselling psychology (or equivalent) and registration with the HCPC.

- o Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or equivalent conferring eligibility for registration with HCPC as either a Clinical Psychologist or a Counselling Psychologist) including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society.
- o HCPC registration.
- o Doctorate (or equivalent) level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
Desirable
- o Training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or fields of applied psychology.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- o Significant experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings.
- o Post qualification experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
- o Computer literate - competent use of email/internet and patient information systems for electronic clinical records and diary management as appropriate.

- o Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
- o Experience of the application of clinical/counselling psychology in different cultural contexts.
