Main duties of the job
To act as co-ordinator for the department in the absence of Senior Dental Nurse- support from more senior staff. To support the Senior Dental Nurse in providing a unified approach to high standards of patient care. To support an environment that promotes excellence in nursing practice and development of high levels of clinical skills. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families. To supervise and teach dental nurses and temporary staff.

Job responsibilities
Participate in team building/communication, to develop and consolidate a cohesive and supportive team.
To communicate effectively and work in partnership with patients, their relative/carers, nurse colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure care is delivered in an accurate and efficient manner.
Receives sensitive information concerning patients medical condition.
Deal with nervous/ anxious patients.
Identify, discuss and report any relevant nursing/patient needs with team/ ward staff, patients.
Work in partnership with the patient and family and other health careprofessionals in care delivery and discharge planning.
Provide support and advice to patients and relatives when faced withdistressing situations.
Accept responsibility be aware and able to locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and able to adhere to both by self and colleagues.
To have good communication skills both verbally, formal documentation and electronic (I.T.) sources with all members of the multidisciplinary team, patients and families.
Maintain accurate and legible records of patient care in line with Trustpolicies.
Adhere to Trust policies pertaining to patient confidentiality/ the DataProtection Act/ Caldicott Recommendations
