An exciting opportunity currently exists in the Outpatient Department at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre (CCC). The position of Outpatient Department (OPD) Manager is vacant due to the progression of the previous post holder.The services provided in the OPD include Oncology and Heamato-oncology clinics, in addition to phlebotomy interventions. The role involves managing outpatient services at multiple sites CCC Liverpool, CCC Aintree and the Clinical Diagnostic Centre at Paddington.

The successful candidate will be joining an established team who focus on effective multidisciplinary team working and delivering optimum patient experience. Applications are welcome from experienced, motivated and flexible individuals

Main duties of the job

  • Act as a visible leader, enabling effective team working
  • Planning and co-ordination of clinical service provision
  • Maintaining effective, safe staffing levels and ensuring appropriate skill mix
  • Responsibility for policy and service development
  • Ensuring safe and effective practice
  • Recruitment, retention and development of staff
  • Provision of multi-professional working and patient centred care .

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1st level Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • First level degree in related subject
  • Post-basic qualification in cancer/palliative care or relevant subject
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Advanced Communications Skills Training or prepared to work towards


Desirable

  • Recognised teaching /mentorship qualification
  • Management Qualification


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of Cancer, treatment modalities and services.
  • Role of Charities and partnership working in the NHS
  • NHS structures and functions


Experience

Essential

  • Relevant post registration experience, at Band 6 or above, in cancer, or the speciality.
  • Experience of teaching
  • In-depth specialist experience
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Experience of multi- professional working


Desirable

  • Project management experience
