We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join Newcastle Adult Community Mental Health Team (Lyme Brook Centre), on a full time basis, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. The Team operates from its main base on the Bradwell Hospital Site (free parking) which serves an identified catchment area within Newcastle-under-Lyme and the surrounding areas.

If you have good clinical skills and are motivated to further develop your knowledge and practice and want to work as part of a large MDT, this role is perfect for you.

Within the role there is opportunity to work autonomously as well as contributing to the team supported by the MDT.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will hold a caseload and undertake the role of key worker for adults with moderate to severe mental health difficulties, working as an autonomous and accountable practitioner within a multidisciplinary team.

Offer support to junior staff and students.

Carry out the role of duty professional following a period of shadowing.

Support the delivery of group interventions.

Undertake initial assessments for new referrals into the service and to provide support and cover to and support our established triage, assessment and duty team.

Job responsibilities

You will be working alongside a well-established, experienced and extremely supportive team of people, including Psychiatrists, Community Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers, Pharmacists, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Social Workers, Psychologists, CBT Therapists, Students, Administration and Primary Care Colleagues.

You will be required to travel to service users homes and various Trust locations as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • A qualified/registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker - (minimum diploma level or equivalent qualification).


Experience

  • Post registration experience working in a community mental health settings.


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of various approaches to mental health assessment.
