We are excited to be advertising for a band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist rotation between Wythenshawe Hospital's Older Persons Assessment and Liaison (OPAL) and Integrated Assessment Team (IAT), and South Manchester's Community Response Services of Discharge to Assess (D2A) and Crisis response.

We are advertising for 1 permanent, full time position, and are looking for someone with exceptional generic assessment and therapeutic skills, who is motivated to deliver care of the highest quality through personal and professional development and collaborative multi-disciplinary working. Applicants are required to hold a UK driving license and have access to their own vehicle for business purposes. The post holder would be required to support each service between 8am until 8pm 7 days per week.

There are three rotations:

Wythenshawe Hospital's OPAL/IAT

South Manchester D2A Team

South Manchester Crisis Response Team

Main duties of the job

Applicants should be highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced clinicians to work closely with our MFT/MLCO colleagues and be able to undertake a role in supporting the ongoing development of the services for patients in and around South Manchester and Trafford areas.

The teams are proactive in the development of both staff and services, and are committed to continuous professional development, providing Multi-Disciplinary IST and specialist uni-disciplinary support and education with regular appraisals and supervision. Peer support forums are also available.

You will consolidate knowledge and develop clinical and non-clinical skills within a supportive environment and be actively involved in the development of the service, supervision of junior staff and student education. Excellent communication skills are required to ensure the hospital and community multidisciplinary teams are working towards a clear patient centered plan.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Registered with HCPC
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate training


Desirable

  • Member of the chartered society of physiotherapy
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate training/courses in specific clinical areas appropriate to post
  • Membership of relevant specialist interest group


Experience

Essential

  • Appropriate level of post registration experience
  • Previous experience across a broad range of junior rotations
  • Experience in a generic therapy assessor role or clear understanding of this
  • Respiratory competencies for ward level patient care


Desirable

  • Research and development awareness and / or experience
  • Audit experience
  • Leadership experience


Skills and knowledge

Essential

  • Advanced clinical reasoning skills
  • Knowledge of areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management
  • Able to present information in a clear and logical manner
  • Basic understanding of computers and their applications
  • Proven organisational skills including time management, effective delegation and prioritisation and the ability to complete a task
  • Ability to work with and motivate others within a team
  • Ability to work autonomously within a clinical area with senior support
  • To comprehend and work within the Trusts policies of data protection, confidentiality, equal opportunities and Health and Safety to meet the differing needs of patients


Desirable

  • Presentation skills
  • Teaching, Supervisory and Appraisal skills and experience
  • previous role in triaging referrals

Essential

  • Physically fit and able to comply with the Trusts moving and handling guidelines subject to reasonable adjustments under the terms of the Equality Act 2010
  • Ability to work within a stressful and unpredictable environment
  • Flexible to meet the needs of the service
