Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Capital Accountant to join our well established team on a fixed term / secondment opportunity fir up to 12 months.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of all capital elements of the Capital Budget as well as reviewing and evaluating Capital Business cases.
Applicants must hold an AAT qualification and membership and / or finance/accountancy related university degree along with a minimum of 5 years of general finance experience.

If this position involves a regulated activity it will require an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check. The disclosure will, where appropriate to the role, include information against the Independent Safeguarding Authority barred lists for working with children, adults or both
Where a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is required for the post, all applicants are required to cover the cost of the check. The cost of �42.50 for an enhanced check is payable to our online provider at the time that the DBS application is submitted. Upon receipt of your DBS you will then be required to sign up to the DBS online update service.

Job responsibilities
The Capital Accountant is responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of all capital elements of the Capital Budget, and medium-term financial strategy which they will work with senior officers to produce. This will include reviewing and evaluating all Capital Business Cases.
The role will also include maintenance and development of the Trust's Fixed Asset Register (FAR), including the setting up of new projects/assets, ensuring that the records are complete, up to date and accurate and being accountable for the integrity of the capital elements of the Trusts core accounting systems and records.
The role will take primary responsibility for providing accurate and timely information on all capital works including projects and monitor costs against budget, cash-flow related matters against budgets, reforecasting and long-term plan indicators.
The role will also be responsible for the maintenance and production of capital financial performance reports including management and statutory accounts, regulatory returns and annual budgets and reforecasts and provide capital information as required for statutory returns within agreed deadlines
