An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated, Registered Nurse to join our Senior Nurse Management team. The successful candidate will provide operational leadership and professional support to nursing teams within a designated portfolio within the Unscheduled Care Directorate. Working as part of the multi- disciplinary team supporting patient pathways to optimise patient care and experience, patient safety, and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will need to be an effective communicator and work collaboratively with their multi-disciplinary colleagues across the Health Board and Local Authority to maintain a high standard of efficient and effective care, professionalism, and service delivery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the wider senior nursing team, to deliver and monitor the nursing and quality strategies. Providing visible clinical & professional leadership to staff, in order to ensure that service, quality and performance objectives are achieved. Focusing on a nursing service that priorities the care needs of patients and embodies the principles of prudent healthcare.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 and current NMC Registration.
  • MSc in Nursing or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant post graduate courses and/or experience within specialties involved with the position.
  • Evidence of continuous management development.
  • Experience of practice development.
  • Must have a recognised management qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Must have knowledge of quality improvement methodologies.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of current policy and issues in professional practice, compliance, standards and the wider NHS.
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of the role and its purpose within the organisation.


Experience

Essential

  • Must have experience of an NHS acute sector middle-management role.
  • Must have experience of managing change.
  • Must have proven experience of clinical leadership at a senior management level.
  • Must be able to control expenditure to a budget and develop adequate controls for doing so.
  • Must have direct experience of major service and organisation change and knowledge of how to navigate a service through a successful change programme.
  • Must have experience of managing staff and working with staff Trades Unions / staff representatives.
