A B6 Vacancy has arisen within our MSK Services Team for a MSK physiotherapist in the Forest of Dean. This post would suit an enthusiastic physiotherapist who is dynamic, innovative and passionate about msk physiotherapy and to supervise and mentor more junior therapists.

The post holder will hold an independent caseload and work closely and collaboratively colleagues in GHC and Countywide in addition to the local MSK Team.

Main duties of the job

• A Band 6 physiotherapist participates as a member of the physiotherapy team independently managing a specialised clinical caseload.
• The post holder has no budgetary responsibility.
• They are expected to have supervisory and teaching responsibility for more junior members of staff and students
• The post holder will fully develop their independent clinical practices and supervisory skills support by Gloucestershire Health and Care Services clinical and managerial Physiotherapy networks.

Job responsibilities

• To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and working alone as a highly skilled clinician providing guidance within their specialised field.
• To be professionally and legally accountable for a designated patient caseload and to decide priorities for own work area, balancing other patient related and professional demands.

• To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload.

• To assess patients capacity, gain valid informed consent to treatment and where such capacity is lacking/absent to work within a legal framework in the management of the patient

• To undertake the comprehensive assessment and accurate diagnosis of patients, including those with a complex presentation, using expert investigative analytical and enhanced clinical reasoning skills.

To use expert clinical reasoning skills frequently with reduced access to other colleagues.

• To formulate individualised clinical management programmes utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to plan a specialised programme of care.

• To provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers, other disciplines and agencies to promote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy for each individual patient and to ensure continuation of the individualised treatment programme. This will include manual handling advice.

• To be competent in using System One for computerised patient records and ensure notes are written up in a timely manner

• To ensure accurate, comprehensive and up to date electronic clinical records are maintained and realistic term goals are set on our electronic clinical record system. To ensure records are evaluated and reviewed at the appropriate timescales and in accordance with Trust guidance and professionally agreed criteria.

• To produce comprehensive patient related reports and correspondence for other disciplines or agencies relating to assessment findings and/or treatment outcomes.

• To undertake ongoing measurement and evaluation of own work through audit, outcome measurement, the application of evidence-based practice and research where appropriate.

• To be involved in audit projects to review current clinical practice.

• To liaise with the Trust wide Physiotherapy team for the prioritisation and management of a designated departmental patient caseload.

• To assist the MSK Physiotherapy Team Lead demonstrating flexibility where necessary to support and deliver the MSK service provision.

• To meet potential requirements of flexible working as part of potential changes in service regarding the place of work and hours of work.

• To work according to Gloucestershire Health and Care Services and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Clinical Guidelines and have a good working knowledge of relevant national standards to which quality of practice should be monitored.
