Exciting opportunities for CBT therapists wishing to expand their CBT experience into Higher Education working on innovative new courses at the University of Sussex

We are looking for accredited Cognitive Behavioural therapists / Chartered Psychologists with experience of working with Children and Young people with an interest in developing further skills in teaching and supervision. You will have the opportunity to prepare, deliver and evaluate training on the Sussex University Post Graduate Certificate Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP), the Post Graduate Diploma in Education and Mental Health Practice (EMHP) and the associated Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision. You will also have access to CBT CPD opportunities. You will have a core profession or the equivalent, be BABCP accredited and have significant experience of working with Children and Young People. You may have had some teaching experience but this is not essential. You would be an experienced supervisor and be keen to develop your skills further.

You will be based within Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Psychological Professions directorate and work at the University of Sussex.

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of the Therapeutic Courses team providing high quality support to the provision of Therapeutic Practice training at Masters level. To provide specialist psychological mental health assessment, formulation and interventions based on specialist experience of both mental health and the provision of mental health treatment, in particular specialist knowledge and experience of working with people with both common and complex mental health difficulties or children and young people. They will additionally offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist/therapist colleagues and to other, non professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Recognised/accredited postgraduate level training in a psychological therapy as specified in the appendix.
  • Professionally registered as specified in the Appendix

  • Substantial post-qualification/accreditation experience of specialist psychological therapy with Children and Young People (assessment, formulation and treatment), as specified in the Appendix
Skills Essential
  • Good inter-personal and inter-professional skills and ability to work autonomously as a single discipline practitioner in a multi-disciplinary setting
