- Use an advanced range of verbal and non -verbal communication tools to communicate effectively in a reassuring manner with the patient and their carers.
- Impact highly sensitive complex information to patients that may be unwelcome, to gain co-operation and progress rehabilitation/treatment programmes. This could include patients with barriers to understanding.
- Ability to communicate highly complex and sensitive information effectively at a high level with colleagues across all disciplines.
- Communicate assessment findings and treatment pathways to appropriate disciplines in the form or reports and letters that may contain highly complex and sensitive information.
- Prepare and submit reports for G.P's, consultants, solicitors for legal purposes and other agencies, were required.

- Provide expert advice and teaching to midwifery colleagues and provide advice to more junior members of staff as necessary.
- Ability to work without recourse to medical colleagues or other professional support.
- To be responsible for comprehensive assessment of patient needs including, complex medical, psychological, environment, individual and carer needs and circumstances.
- To take responsibility for own continuing professional development and maintaining the specialist skills required to practice at an advanced level within the clinical speciality.

- To perform advanced assessment of patients within specialist field with diverse presentation and complex pelvic health conditions/pathology during the peri-natal period.
- Use clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide/contribute to an accurate diagnosis of conditions.
- Use empathy and analysis to uncover other social/physiological factors that affect compliance with treatment plans to facilitate longterm / permanent lifestyle change.
- To identify when a patient does not require physiotherapy interventions, signposting other MDT input to support their condition.
- To provide ongoing collaborative evaluation of service provision ensuring value, quality care and positive patient experience as well as ensuring the continued development of the perinatal pelvic health physiotherapy service.
PLANNING AND ORGANISATIONAL SKILLS
- To decide and deliver an expert clinical management plan for patients within specialist field which may include referral on to a consultant or implementation of individualised.
PHYSICAL SKILLS
- Demonstrate expert levels of dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory senses for assessment and treatment of patients within specialist field.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENT/CLIENT CARE
- To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in own care and their records.
- To ensure a high standard of clinical care for own patients and to support more junior staff to do likewise.
- To implement, evaluate, analyse and adjust treatment programmes according to the patients needs, which may be highly complex. The frequent use of encouragement, motivation, negotiation, reassurance skills as well as discussing progress with patients and carers, will be essential.
