QMC Stroke Unit is a friendly and supportive wards looking to recruit a caring, motivated and hardworking first level registered nurse to be part of our progressive multidisciplinary team.We welcome applications from newly qualified and nurses with no or limited stroke care experience. We aim to build on your core foundation nursing skills and support you beyond. We are looking for individuals to join us in providing specialised, holistic and personalised treatment for patients at all stages of their recovery.The Stroke Service at Nottingham University Hospitals is at the forefront of evidence based care, clinical practice and academic research. There are opportunities for successful applicants to participate in providing care for patients throughout their journey, including assessments, implementation of therapeutic care and being involved in complex discharge planning while liaising closely with the multi-disciplinary team.We offer a comprehensive induction package leading to many developmental opportunities including accredited Multi-professional Stroke Foundation course, clinical skills packages and support with accessing related post graduate education.
The post holder is required to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Main duties of the job
Assess the care needs of patients and develop a programme of care which is evaluated and amended as appropriate.
Carry out relevant forms of direct and indirect patient care without direct supervision.
Regularly take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility or his/her deputy.
Work as part of the ward team, alongside supporting other ward areas within stroke.
Utilises and integrates evidence into practice.
Assess the case needs of patients and develop a programme of care which is evaluated and implemented as appropriate.
Make sound clinical decisions based on the assessment of patients, including that of safe nurse lead discharges.
