Job description
Job responsibilities
To be responsible for the facilitation of clinics running in each CMHS locality: clozapine, depot and wellbeing. This post-holder will undertake monitoring and follow-ups. The post-holder, working within the CMHS, will increase timely access to medications and allow for increased frequency of monitoring and medicines optimisation.
Working as an independent prescriber, this post-holder will develop and embed the NMP role within the CMHS. It is envisaged that this will include leading and prescribing in both clozapine and depot clinics as well as a stand-alone nurse prescribing clinic which may include initiation and ongoing monitoring of psychotropic medications (including annual reviews) and smoking cessation. Other nursing and support staff will continue to be involved in the clinics.
In addition, this post-holder would be regularly involved in CMHS assessments where there is a medication/diagnostic issue to allow for immediate prescribing at the point of assessment, or medication advice to the GP.
