The post holder will support to the General Surgery Management Team across all aspects of business, service improvement programmes. Working autonomously and responsible for their own workload, they will provide advice and guidance and work, lead programmes of work across the Directorate to ensure effective planning and performance. This will include responsibility for implementing identified changes via project management.

Main duties of the job

Day to day responsibilities will include taking a lead role within the directorate management team in supporting and developing the implementation of new technologies in the directorate, such as digital dictation, voice recognition, e-referrals and e-discharges, working closely with admin and clinical staff as well as IT staff to ensure implementation, monitor progress and provide regular reports to the directorate management team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The postholder will also take responsibility for specific performance improvement projects within the directorate, working closely with the team, to identify and act upon opportunities for service modernisation. This will include using a range of sources to provide and analyse complex information relating to operational performance. As an example, this may include combining information from a number of sources (eg theatre data from Ormis, patient cancellations from bed management systems, RTT and waiting times data), to plot performance trajectories and identify poor performing areas. The postholder will be responsible for presenting this data to the directorate management team, and must be able to explain clearly their findings and identify improvements, following through with timescales and delivery of improvements.
