We are looking for a colleague who has experience of working in a community and/or inpatient setting and wishes to develop their assessment, care planning and rehabilitation skills whilst being part of a dynamic, progressive multidisciplinary team. This is a very supportive environment, and would be an ideal post for progression from a Band 5 position, or for an experienced Band 6 to gain skills working in a different team.
You will be responsible for the assessment, treatment and discharge planning of patients within your care. You will need to interpret information relevant to the patient's condition/progress, identify problems and patient needs, setting realistic goals.
You will need to have excellent organisational skills combined with experience of working in older person's services. You will need a valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel to different locations, at times outside the area to facilitate a discharge.
We are a supportive team of multi-disciplinary staff. We offer a friendly, supportive working environment where you can develop your clinical and interpersonal skills. CPD is actively encouraged and supported through regular supervision/appraisal and staff training.
Main duties of the job
To provide highly specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with a wide variety of conditions.
As the lead Occupational Therapist on the ward, the post holder will be required to hold and manage a complex clinical caseload and facilitate appropriate discharge from hospital.
The post holder will support the Therapy Team Lead in delivering therapy services and support and lead the team in their absence if required. They will manage a small Occupational Therapy team and contribute to the development of the Therapy Service on the ward.
About us
We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.
We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.
Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.
We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.
Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
