An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and enthusiastic team within the Centre for Reproductive Medicine at St Bartholomew's Hospital, based in the City of London. We are a busy Centre of Reproductive Medicine providing an extensive range of treatments to both NHS and fee paying patients. We pride ourselves in providing the highest standard of care for our patients, as well as being able to offer staff opportunities to develop clinical and leadership skills.

We are looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Menopause to work in collaboration with our experienced Menopause clinical team to provide specialist advice, support and education in relation to all aspects of the Menopause.

The post holder will act as an autonomous nurse practitioner who has the ability to be able to manage complex clinical situations with the support of the Menopause consultants. They will also be responsible for providing guidance, supervision and training to peers and junior members of the team.

They will be involved in the assessment, planning and implementation of management plans from initial referral to discharge.

They will be actively involved in monitoring and developing the service across the trust promoting a high standard of care which is both safe and effective.

Main duties of the job

In addition to clinical expertise you will need excellent interpersonal skills. Aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring junior staff and nursing students is essential, as is the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.

The clinic is open 8am - 6pm Monday - Friday, plus Saturday and Sunday mornings and some bank holidays. Flexible working applications will be considered to cover the service.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Significant post registration experience in Gynaecology, Fertility or Gynae Oncology including care of patients with Menopause related conditions.
  • Possession of a Nursing qualification and/or working towards a Masters degree
  • A Gynaecology, Fertility or Gynae Oncology qualification.
  • Experience in clinical research audits and service improvement (IHI)
  • Teaching and education course


Desirable

  • Good working knowledge of Gynaecology, or Fertility and the patient treatment pathways
  • Master's degree in nursing including a module on Menopause


Skills

Essential

  • Advanced Communication Skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure due to service demands
  • Ability to manage complex situations both clinically and in terms of administration
  • Presentation Skills


Desirable

  • Understanding of the management of databases and presentation of outcomes


Knowledge

Essential

  • Proven clinical skills & sound knowledge base in various treatment modalities of gynaecological and Menopause management


Desirable

  • Physical Assessment Course
  • Nurse Prescribing Course
  • Has experience of working with PGD's


Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse - RN level 1
  • NMC Registered


Desirable

  • Has obtained the British Menopause Society (BMS)/Faculty of Sexual Reproductive Health (FSRH)
  • Advanced Menopause Certificate.
  • Masters qualification
  • Teaching and education course
